Fostering International Collaboration in Neurosurgery Research

Coming together is a beginning, staying together is progress, and working together is success.” — Henry Ford

In our ongoing efforts to foster international collaboration and advance neurosurgical research, we recently had the pleasure of hosting Dr. Shoko Hara, an esteemed colleague from Tokyo Medical and Dental University (TMDU), as part of an exchange supported by the American Heart Association.

Dr. Hara, an Assistant Professor of Neurosurgery at TMDU, visited our lab to collaborate with Dr. Gary Steinberg and our team at Stanford Neurosurgery. And during her stay, Dr. Hara presented a talk titled "Bridging the Gender Gap: the Current State of Women Neurosurgeons in Japan” - emphasizing the importance of inclusion in our field.

This visit is part of our broader initiative to break boundaries in neurosurgical research, with a particular focus on Moyamoya disease. By combining our expertise with that of our international colleagues, we aim to develop innovative approaches to diagnosis and treatment, build a global community dedicated to advancing neurosurgical science, and ultimately improve patient outcomes!
