Neurospan Lab’s Adventure: Bonding and Learning on the Tennessee Valley Trail

Written by: Helena Zhang

On Sunday, July 21st, the Neurospan Lab took a break from neuroscience research to hike along the Tennessee Valley Trail in Marin County.

The hike itself was breathtaking. As we made our way along the trail, we got to see rolling hills and the Pacific Ocean shift and sparkle under the sun.

This was also a great backdrop for conversation and learning. We learned about Japanese culture and academia experiences from Dr. Shoko Hara, a neurosurgeon from Tokyo Medical and Dental University, the rigor of chemistry classes at Stanford, and about effective ways for managing massive for neuroimaging research!

While the fresh air was invigorating, it was special to share moments like these — when everything feels simple, possible, and beautiful — with each other.
